Probe S-CATH
During therapeutic ablation procedures, the temperature of the esophagus can change rapidly. S-CATH provides faster and more accurate temperature detection for both HOT and COLD temperature changes. The probe deploys an array of 12 fully insulated, fast-response temperature sensors in a uniquely designed soft and flexible “S” shape that provides edge-to-edge coverage.
Characteristics
- 12 sensors. Smart positioning
12 fast-response temperature sensors, coated and electrically insulated in a soft and flexible “S” shape of exclusive design. - Edge-to-edge coverage
The unique design deploys the sensor array across the length and width of the esophagus allowing for full coverage. - Designed for fast detection
Data is displayed directly on the CIRCA monitor, updating 20 times per second, providing faster detection of esophageal temperature changes. - No bare metal
12 temperature sensors are completely isolated with PEBAX, eliminating the possibility of RF interaction. - Key benefits
- Response time
- In an independent study of 198 applications on 10 patients, the S-CATH recognized an initial temperature increase of 0,2ºC, 17 seconds faster than a single sensor probe (1).
- Edge-to-edge coverage
- In the same study, S-CATH recorded a 40-fold temperature increase of >2,0°C. Single-sensor probes failed to detect 90% of those temperature increases (1).
- RF antenna effect
- The PEBAX coating electrically insulates the temperature sensors so there is no exposure of bare metal.
- Lateral positioning problems
- Linear and single-sensor temperature probes, no matter how fast, tend to be placed very laterally in the esophagus.
- Response time
